Proterozoic

Age Interval:
Neoproterozoic (Rf? jz), V1

Province:
SE Tajik (Central W Pamir)

Type Locality and Naming

This is the middle formation in Vanch-Yazgulem Gr

Synonym: Yazgulemskaya formation (Язrулемская свита)

Reference section:

Lithology and Thickness

Formed by calcite and dolomite marbles with layers of graphite-carbonaceous, quartz-sericite shales and quartzites. Formation thickness is 1000-1500 m. In the lower part of the formation, the amount of carbonate and terrigenous rocks is approximately the same, in the upper part, marbles predominate. Their thickness is especially large (up to 700 m) in the valleys of the Sungat, Lyangar, and Rovand rivers.

Lithology Pattern:
Dolomitic limestone

Relationships and Distribution

Upper contact

Regional extent

It is widespread in the western part of the Central Pamir.
